Lactation Consultant Training Program at BirthMark

It will come as no surprise to hear that many women are changed by their breastfeeding experiences. Some feel these effects so profoundly that they are compelled to pursue a career in breastfeeding support. The path is not always evident, however, and it is not singular. Some become nursing mother's counselors. Others become postpartum doulas. Others pursue a more rigorous path toward becoming a lactation consultant. For those who find this to be the best path at this time in their lives, we have created a comprehensive educational program. Our vision is for it to be a year-round, ongoing program. Individuals are able to join at any point. Our initial group of students are many months into their training now, and the reviews have been excellent.

This innovative program is spear-headed by Kay Hoover, IBCLC. Kay is a nationally-known author and speaker on the subject of breastfeeding. Participants will enroll in ongoing classes that will meet the requirements to test for certification as a lactation consultant. Mentorship opportunities will be discussed and created in conjunction with participants. Several lactation consultants and other specialists also lecture within their areas of expertise.
