Childbirth Education a la Carte (An Ongoing Revolving Series)

Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30PM

cost: $25/session

This revolving series of classes is a flexible approach to childbirth preparation. Parents may attend the entire series or select topics that meet their priorities and schedules. Classes can be taken independently or as a supplement to hospital classes.

Preparation will be most comprehensive when combined with our Saturday morning ongoing classes -- Getting Ready for Baby, Infant Care 101, and Preparing to Breastfeed.

Joining our prenatal preparation classes will provide the added benefit of introducing your family to our vibrant community. Research indicates that postpartum adjustment is most smooth when parents have friends who themselves are also experiencing early parenthood. Friendships forged during pregnancy continue at BirthMark at our support groups, ongoing lectures, and play groups. Join us. You'll feel better for it.

Sessions are taught by experienced doulas and childbirth educators
Jackie Kelleher and Diane Lawley.

Upcoming Series:

8/19 or 9/27 - Comfort Skills for Labor I

Well beyond the "breathing" that most people are expecting, this class addresses breathing, relaxation skills, visualization, positioning for comfort and to facilitate labor, and more....

9/2 or 10/07 - Unmedicated birth: How to Optimize your Chances

This class is a hybrid of concepts, practices and hands-on skills. If it is your hope to have an unmedicated birth in the hospital, home or a birth center, this class will be especially  helpful.

9/9 or 10/11 - Comfort Skills for Labor II

This class can be used as a continuation of Comfort Skills I or on its own. A brief review of skills from the first class with more hands-on practice.

9/13 or 10/21 - What to Expect at a Hospital Birth

This class addresses common procedures and protocols used in many of our local hospitals, including induction, epidurals, and cesarean birth. Taught from an "informed consent" format, the intent is to provide evidence-based information to help parents make informed choices.

10/25 - Pregnant? Planning your Birth Experience
This class is ideal for early, mid, or even those planning a pregnancy. Choosing a care provider and facility, staying healthy, and resources for birth and beyond.
